Nursing

The nursing department is composed of Registered General Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who provide care and support to patients during their rehabilitation.

Physiotherapy

All patients must be admitted for in-patient rehabilitation, from a referring hospital, under the care of a medical consultant, in order to be referred for physiotherapy in Clontarf Hospital.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with patients whose daily activities (occupations) have been impaired by physical and/or mental illness.

Medical Social Work

Medical Social workers assess the impact of illness or injury on a patient and his/her family and plan appropriate supports.

Nutrition-Dietetics

The nutrition and dietetic department supports inpatients that require specialised diets and or additional nutrition support during their stay in Clontarf Hospital.

Pharmacy

Clontarf Hospital pharmacy department sources, stores and supplies all medication used within the hospital. Our pharmacists advise clinical staff and patients and their carers on the safe, effective and economic use of these medications.

XRay

The X-ray Department provides a general x-ray service for all in-patients and a limited General Practitioner (GP) out-patient service for adults by appointment only. There are no walk in x-ray services in Clontarf Hospital.

Speech-Language-Therapy

The SLT Department in Clontarf Hospital provides assessment, diagnosis, support, and treatment for patients who are experiencing developmental and/or acquired speech, language, communication, voice, and eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties and who require rehabilitation services. This is delivered via one-to-one direct sessions, group work, or indirect training sessions, dependent on patient need. The SLT Department also works closely with colleagues in the acute hospitals and specialist services to facilitate access to objective assessments (e.g.: videofluoroscopy or endoscopy) or specialist services (e.g.: alternative and augmented communication) when needed.
