Speech & Language Therapy

Introduction

The SLT Department in Clontarf Hospital provides assessment, diagnosis, support, and treatment for patients who are experiencing developmental and/or acquired speech, language, communication, voice, and eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties and who require rehabilitation services. This is delivered via one-to-one direct sessions, group work, or indirect training sessions, dependent on patient need. The SLT Department also works closely with colleagues in the acute hospitals and specialist services to facilitate access to objective assessments (e.g.: videofluoroscopy or endoscopy) or specialist services (e.g.: alternative and augmented communication) when needed.

Education and Research:

Education and research are core tenets of the Department’s ethos, with an ongoing Practice Education relationship with Trinity College Dublin and involvement with several student research projects in the area of SLT in adult rehabilitation settings.
