Hospital Charges

Public in-patients

From 1 January 2017, the statutory charge for overnight and day in-patient services is €80 per day up to a maximum of €800 in any 12 consecutive months. The charge does not apply to the following groups:

  • Medical card holders
  • People who are entitled to hospital services because of EU Regulations

Private in-patients

If you choose to be treated as a private patient when you are admitted, you are charged for the inpatient services according to the category of the hospital and the type of room you are in. Clontarf Hospital is a sixth schedule hospital:

As the patient, it is your responsibility to check that your health insurance company will pay your full hospital bill. If not, you are liable for all outstanding hospital charges.
